A woman was Christmas shopping with her two children.
After many hours of walking down row after row of toys and
After hours of hearing both her children asking for everything
They saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the
Store elevator with her two children in hand.

She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday
Season time of year, getting that perfect gift for every
Single person on our shopping list, overwhelming pressure to
Go to every party, every housewarming, taste all the holiday
Food and treats, making sure we respond to
Everyone who sent us a card.

Finally the elevator doors opened revealing a crowd in the car.
She pushed her way in and dragged her two kids and all her
Bags of stuff in with her.

As the doors closed she couldn't take it anymore and blurted
Out, "Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be
Found, strung up, and shot."

From the back of the car, a quiet calm voice responded,
"Don't worry, we've already crucified Him." The rest of the
Trip down was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Don't forget this year to keep the One who started this whole
Christmas thing in your every thought, deed, purchase, and
Word. If we all would just think how much better this world
Would be.

Jesus is the reason for the season. Wise men still seek Him.

Time flies when you're having fun, and all of a sudden it's our seventh Birthday!

Just as a child learns much in their seventh year of life, we have too.

We have learned to read between the lines, and many things are not as they appear.

Right, Mr. Gahan?

We have learned the most important thing is to get the facts and numbers out to our readers.

We have the satisfaction of knowing that people are informed of the truth behind the lies, because we have taken the time and initiative to bring it forward.

We have made a difference - whether you agree with us or use our words as your daily humor - you have taken the time out of your life to read what we have to say.

Our motto has always been "if only one person reads what we have to say" we have done our job.

We still believe this...even today!

Our philosophy is "common sense" and seeing things as they really are, and doing things as they should be done.

We would like to thank all our readers for their positive emails and their continued support. It's great to know that so many people read our blog and support what we do.

At the same time, others have let us know that they think our views are muddled, mean spirited, or otherwise incorrect and some have called us racist.

And that's OK with us; we want to hear from everyone that has an intelligent comment about our blog,

We will continue to defend the little people, the working people, and the middle class who play by the rules and
pay their taxes.

We appreciate hearing from both political parties and R-o-g-e-r, we even enjoy your criticism, it's nice to be thought of and appreciated.

What's it like Roger to NOT have Price to bully or to write about?

"What's cooler than a new box of crayons for 2013-2014!"

To our Mayor, we promise to keep track of your lies and believe us, we haven't forgotten all those "campaign promises you lied" about....

Gahan, you really have put a "new meaning" to the words: Narcissistic, Liar, Phony, Delusional and a One Termer!

To our dysfunctional City Council, you know the campaign promises you didn't keep and the budget you never really balanced. You ARE the worse Council we have ever had in the history of New Albany.

We applaud Councilman Zurschmiede and Council woman Diane Benedetti and Council woman Shirley Baird for standing up to the new Gang of Six taking their attacks with a grain of salt. Maybe one day those "six ass kissers"of Gahan's, might learn what public service really is!

And a special thank you to our re-elected State Rep. Ed Clere for showing the progressives that the democrats continue to support him.

Oh let's not forget what we have learned from other blogs.

We have learned that Roger still lives in a fish barrel far away from the truth about New Albany, that certain people feel threatened by this little blog we call
Freedom Of Speech.

Many others have opened blogs to varying degrees of success.

We are sure others have discovered that it's not easy keeping a blog fresh and current.

New Albany is really a small town and while you are enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner at the local bars or restaurants, people are listening to your conversation and taking notes.

Be careful, several memos and notes have been scanned and emailed to us.

As we know timing is very important in the blog business.

In closing we would like to pass on this "little bit" of information to a special person or two [No, Roger it's not you.]

We do know what you all are up to. And as they say: "every dog" has their day - some sooner than later!

As they say in the blog sphere, take care New Albany we are not going anywhere.

From all of us at Freedom Of Speech,  again thanks for your support during the past seven years and here's hoping for many more postings to come.

Party on little people, have a cold Bud Light on us.

Freedom Of Speech would like to thank the many local Democrats who refused to attend Councilman Dan Coffey's fundraiser last evening. It's time to send him a message loud and clear.

Oprah seems to forget where she got all her chances to get ahead in this life. She is only looking to smooze with the Obama's. From what we have been reading Michele Obama cannot stand her. If she would or could read she would know Abe Lincoln was a Republican, a Conservative. Down through the years Conservatives have voted much more for civil rights, a much higher percentage than Democrats.

Oprah needs to go to Frantz Kebreau's site ( he is a black man who wrote Stolen History) and find out the truth as to what has been happening in "her" black communities.

Oprah is likely more ignorant than a liar because she is obviously not a reader for she has been too busy counting her money that the white fans have, over the years helped to heap on her.

She is a betrayer to people, not just to White people, but is misleading black people as well.  She needs to know what she is talking about.

Who got Oprah where she is today?

Our guess that "white people"  but mostly women for the most part.

She definitely is not doing to badily, but better than 90 percent of the who population, white or black.

So Oprah we done your homework for you. This may help:

13 Ammendment: Abolished slavery
100% Republican Support
23%  Democrat Support

14 Ammendment that gave Citizenship to Freed Slaves
94%  Republican Support
0%  Democrat Support

15th Ammendment Right to Vote For All
100% Republican Support
0% Democrat Support

This Obamacare Monstrosity
0% Republican Support
86% Democrat Support

Abraham Lincoln was a Republican
The man who started thr KKK was a Democrat.

So our question to you Oprah: Who has been lying to you blacks and fooling you down through the years?

The problem with Obamacare is the math doesn't add up. You can't cover everybody, increase coverage standards, and cost less all at the same time.

Obama and the Democrats knew this, but they LIED to the American people for their votes.

First rule of thumb is: nothing in life is free.

Our final thoughts:

The government data base isn't in such bad shape. What can go wrong with a spiral notebook and a Bic Pen?

Councilman Jim Wathan said after the budget was passed that all the council did Tuesday "was kick the can down the road."

Source: News & Tribune

If you want to fix the budget shortfall:

* Lay off the last 50 people who were employed in 2011-2012

* Cut benefits on all County employees

* Park all take home cars

* Put all County employees on the Obamacare Exchanges

Our final thoughts:

It's time Floyd County and the City of New Albany knows how the rest of us live. We live on a budget and stop the spending.....

Gahan's Fuzzy Math:

$1.7 million for Non Union employee's salary
$5.6 million Bond payments
$3.6 million Humana healthcare
84 cents of every dollar in our General Fund goes to Union employees (Police & Fire)
$20 million - General Fund in 2013:

Do the math and you will draw the same conclusions we do.

As a registered Democrat, have been for over 20 years. Since Obama and the Democratic party will not negotiate with Congress. The U.S. needs to get a hold of all entitlement programs, cancel all Obama phones, stop cutting deals and make everyone on the same playing field, instead of giving exemptions to ANYONE.

We think the democrats were wrong to bring "Obamacare" to the American people. It is NOTHING but a "Ponzi Scheme" brought to you by the democrats.

Remember these famous words:

"We had to pass the bill in order to know what was in it." So what is in it:  "We the People DON'T WANT IT!"

We here at Freedom of Speech support the Republicans and the shut down of the Federal Government.

Bravo to the GOP for standing up to Obama on Obamacare. Now, it's time to take out every Democrat in the Senate in 2014 who voted for it

Let the 800,000 federal employees know how the rest of us feel.

We the People Works....

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Wow! There are still a couple of Senators that vote their conscience and are willing to stand up for the people like Jefferson and Adams. Those who mock them are usually liberals and the GOP machine.

Senator Ted Cruz has the guts to stand up to those 'bastards' it's a shame we don't have more like him in Washington.

Looks like 2014 will be a year of trying to take out those on both sides who voted for Obamacare.

We wonder what it will take to wake up the generation of Facebook profile and texting career than the hijacking of their futures.

Wake up people, Obamacare will totally destroy our country. If you don't believe us read the bill...then make a call to Senator Coats.

This blog posting is the first of our personal opinions examining the impact of bullying on everyday people.

Bullying is different from constructive criticism or conflict, bullying is persistent, it focuses on a person rather than a real issue.

We consider an attack from a certain blogger as a "Badge of Honor."

On Freedom Of Speech we discuss the issues that affect each and everyone of us on a daily bases, in our wallets and pocketbooks, while the local "bully blogger" makes everything personal.

It's his way or the highway.

He's like a schoolyard bully who wants to exert their size and show that they are powerful enough to make others do what he wants and uses fear tactics.

If he has nothing to gain, and by that we mean $$$$$, it means nothing to him. Believe us if we hear his "buy local BS again" I think we will vomit.

He lives by a double standard.

It is a well know fact, if you do NOT purchase his beer, you are discussed all over town.

If a council member, an elected or appointed official doesn't kiss his ass, or others don't agree with him, votes for what he wants, or whatever the issue might be, he humiliates them the next day and continues for days, weeks or months.

Big mistake!

Why cut your nose off to spite your face. We recommend for his reading pleasure: How to Win Friends and Influence People the RIGHT way..

But, what he won't accept or understand is that everyone doesn't like his beer. Some businesses refuses to carry his brands.

If you want to buy a pint or a bottle of Bud or even Miller Light that's your right.

Cyber bullying occurs everyday with his social media updates on (Twitter, Facebook and Blogger) are used to threaten or humiliate someone and can be just as serious as the effects of bullying until he is confronted in person.

Is this why he lost the last election?

Our final thoughts:

The next time your photo or name appears on his Twitter, Facebook or Blogger page consider it a Badge of Honor!

Have a great weekend....

Why does newly appointed Controller Linda Moeller have a take home car?

Why does our current administration thinks they know what's best for Mt. Tabor residence?

Why did our current administration sell our ladder truck for $2,500?

"Spending is up, not down; and our debt is up, not down."

Freedom Of Speech would like to say:

It's time taxpayers understand the reality their elected officials have created!

We have often said that we don't care what the answer is, just tell us taxpayers the truth.

This article is remembrance of the 3,030 people who lost their lives after United Airlines Flight 175 flew into the World Trade Center South Tower, American Airlines Flight 11 hit the North Tower, American Airlines Flight 77 was flown in to the Pentagon, and the heroic efforts of the people who lost their lives when United Flight 93 was crashing landed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

A look back on that day:

While sitting at my desk listening to a Shania Twain CD. Less than an hour later I was seeing images of smoke and flames pouring from the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, and hearing reports of a plane crashing into the Pentagon and another crashing into a field in Pennsylvania.

We watched in disbelief!

The attacks began with the hijacking of four commercial airlines departing from East Coast airports, fueled for flights to California.
With jet fuel capacities of nearly 24,000 gallons, each aircraft effectively became an incendiary, guided missile.
"We watched in total disbelief, this could ever happen in America!"
The terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, changed us forever. "For many people, the events of 9/11 became a barometer for what they were grateful for and what was missing in their lives.
"That day became a catalyst for people to take the steps they were frightened of and to live a life that was truer to themselves, because they realized that life could change in the blink of an eye."

"What have we learned?"

We've learned we are neither rich nor wealthy financially, but rich in the way we live our lives and in our relationships.

"We DO also know that we are
"damn proud" to be an American!"

Freedom does not come free.

It didn't come free for Washington, Jefferson, Margret Mead, and New Albany's very own Mildred Wilson.

"Everything comes at a price."

But, Sept. 11 did happen. And the best tribute we can give those who died is never forget them and the many heroes of 9.11.01

Please pray for the friends and family who lost their loved ones on 9/11.

Take a moment today to think of the people you care about, to think of the beautiful things in this world and how you can affect them and it for the better.

We will attend a 911 Memorial Ceremony from 8:45am (when the first tower was hit) to 10:30 (when the last tower fell). This Ceremony is intended to honor all those who lost their lives for freedom on 9/11, those who have given their lives to defend freedom, and all those who dedicated their lives to the preservation of freedom.

"We still remember, and we will never forget!"

God Bless America!

Exempt America from Obamacare Rally

WHEN: Tuesday, September 10, 2013

WHERE: West Lawn of the US Capitol

TIME:  12pm to 2pm

Democrats will stop at nothing to protect the Liar-In-Chief's signature legislation, and to many Republicans don't have the balls and are spineless cowards to fight for "We The People."

This is NOT a battle for the weak at heart and spineless politicians of both parties. This is a battle to save America from the Obamacare "train wreck!"

The administration has already admitted that Obamacare isn't ready by unilateral (and unlawfully) delaying the employer mandate for a year, effectively protecting Big Business.
Big Labor Unions, who largely supported this Liar-In-Chief  and supported Obamacare are NOW seeking special exemptions.

Freedom Of Speech would like to say:

Obamacare isn't good enough for Small Businesses, Big Business, Big Labor, or Big GOVERNMENT, then it's isn't good enough for the
American People.....

We're off to Washington, DC to let them know we will VOTE everyone out who supports or supported  Obamacare in the upcoming 2014 election regardless of party....

Should the Council approve $435,000 for the Street Department?

Why isn't each Department required to do a yearly inventor of equipment?

How many tree stump removers does one city need?

If our mind has NOT failed us, Mr. Gahan says "we have plenty of $$$$$."

Freedom of Speech would like to say:

How come our city can't live on it's $20 million Budget. Unlike us taxpayers we live on a budget, and Mr. Gahan continues to spend like a drunken sailor.....

The sooner we get this SOB out of office the better.

Is it true Councilman Dan Coffey will be running for Commissioner in 2014?

Could the City of New Albany be that lucky?

"Run Dan Run!"

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

On October 1st, millions of Americans will be required to enroll in Obamacare and could lose access to their doctors and be forced to pay higher taxes.

Republicans in Congress can stop Obamacare if they refuse to fund it.

It was reported yesterday under Obamacare, unknown governments agents will have the authority to force their way into your home unannounced,

Yes, you read that right!

Our federal government is already allocating hundreds of millions of dollars for state programs for "evidence-based home visits" at this very moment.

Is this what you as a citizen and a taxpayer want?

If the House of Representatives (democrats and republicans) submits a spending resolution to Obama and Harry Reid that defunds Obamacare, both will have a choice.

It is our opinion that the republicans were never serious about repealing healthcare, we think it has been lip service from the get-go.

We have some simple choices to make. Is independence more important than dependency or is dependency more important than independence? Is our safety more important than our freedom, or is our freedom more important than our safety.

How you answer those two questions should determine if you support Obamacare or NOT.

We are all familiar with our public schools. You might have attended one, or your children might go to one, or you might be familiar with the one down the street from you. But most of you are NOT familiar with what happens at School Board meetings.

Case in point: News & Tribune article: New Albany-Floyd County approves bonds, August 13, 2013.

Every governing body from top to bottom needs at least one member who will stand up for us taxpayers. The only one we see is School Board member Rebecca Gardenour period.

What the hell is wrong with the rest of you?

Why are they wasting our tax dollars?

More money is spent on facilities construction and maintenance than is necessary and budgets are NOT based on what things actually cost.

Teachers feel disenpowered. Students feel apathetic. Parents feel frustrated. And many taxpayers
\feel in the dark.

Our readers need to wake up and see where they are spending our hard earned tax dollars and besides next year is an election year for some school board members.

Mrs. Gardenour and we quote "I have a problem with, three years ago in the expedditure reduction, it ask to close down Galena," then Gardenour said. "And yet now, we're going to pour more money into Galena. We were telling the community, the parents, the teachers, who were going to save this school, and now were going to turn around and spend $1 million on it."

She also stated: "though the $270,000 may get Galena's projected started, she thought the district would end up spending more than that."

In case your dementia is acting up this afternoon. In 2010, our local school board closed other schools including Galena as part of a cost-saving initiative.

Freedom of Speech would like to say:

The idea that our deputy superintendent Brad Snyder and DJ Hines school board president would mislead  us taxpayers is truly appalling and sickening!

Mrs. Gardenour has this exactly right. Enough of the wasteful spending.

Our final thoughts: The following four members sitting on our school board deserve to be voted out of office in next years 2014 election. Remember these four names:

* DJ Hines
* Roger Whaley
* Mark Boone
* Jan Anderson.

The following four school board members are nothing but lap dogs for Brad Snyder. We ask our readers to become informed school board voters in 2014.  These four members "are not fit to sit on our school board" and they don't give a damn about We the Taxpayers.

Bravo, Mrs. Gardenour.

We need five more citizens like Mrs. Gardenour sitting on our School Board!

ME TOO.....

Nearly all local government union contracts in the City Of New Albany have the "me-too" clause in them, in effect guaranteeing that any benefit negotiated by one union will be shared by others - without the corresponding concession that resulted in the first union gaining the benefit.

While we believe such clauses distort the negotiation process and are bad in a significant number of ways, today we have a prime example (an 'unintended consequence" effect) showing why they should be banned.

The NAPD had filed a grievance went to court and won and City Attorney Stan Robinson did not appeal and he should have. So now Mr. Gahan is throwing the NAPD a few crumbs to screw over the others involved into this me-too clause.

Well Mr. Gahan, they all met today and they are going back to court on August 20. They NOT only buy you BS of $3,000 and a 1% raise. The NAPD is going to WIN and you are going to cost us tax dollars $$$$ we don't have.

What Mr. Gahan doesn't get this is in the union contract and arbitrators and judges who decide such things are NOT bound by common sense - or even taxpayer interest. They are bound to examine Mr. Gahans contract with NAPD who can make a strong argument under the me-to clause.

Personally we are sick and tired of our elected officials giving away the farm to a very small minority of constituents and our tax dollars we pay. It seems to us once the man gets into office there is NO way to hold our "Mr. Gahan" accountable to any promises made prior to taking office.

Who in the hell would be dumb enough (other than Jeff Gahan and Stan Robinson) to allow a clause like that, anyway?

This will be another court hearing Mr. Gahan and City Attorney Stan Robinson won't win.....

What the State of Indiana needs is a "Recall law" so we can throw these SOB out of office.

examine the terms of Mr. Gahan's CONTRACT before them and NAPD can make a strong argument under their me-too clause.

Wednesday, August 07, 2013

A compendium of idiotic and maniacal utterances by our current council members and Mr. Gahan:

"Whenever I would have any occasion to talk with her about anything, she was always helpful and patient because that's not my strong suit - dealing with Budget issues"  Councilman John Gonder

"They make a huge profit." Councilman Dan Coffey

"I've got some real questions about how some money was spent." Councilman Dan Coffey

"But we've needed roads for the past 20 years". Councilman Dan Coffey

"Camile Wright is a much better choice for a pool than it is a fire house." Mr. Gahan

"The city council, administration and redevelopment commission will be working together to determine which tool in the toolbox we're going to use to complete the work." Mr. Gahan

"The administration will continue to seek other sources of funding for the projects, including a Horseshoe Foundation grant." Mr. Gahan"

We don't have enough money to pay for infrastructure needed for the city, but there's enough in there for a parking garage." Councilman Dan Coffey

"That he would not vote for what the mayor wanted, or for even what his constituents desired, but for what he believed was the correct decision." Councilman Greg Phipps

"I think it's inherently the structure isn't working for us." Councilman Scott Blair

"This is more of a redevelopment issue than a council issue." Councilman Dan Coffey

"This is NOT a problem with the road but a problem with the hill." Councilman Bob Caesar

"Really is a major artery, and it is used quite extensively by everybody on that side of the hill." Councilman Bob Caesar

As our readers can tell Coffey has to comment on every issue and you can tell he has been fed a bunch of bullshit by ankle biter Gahan. Coffey doesn't make sense, his questions don't make sense and everyone who reads the News & Tribune knows he is Mr. Gahan's mouth piece and lap dog.  At council meeting his outburst lost IQ points just having to listen to his moronic "grandstanding" nonsense.

The shenanigans continue.....

All levels of our city government have an addiction to spending. However, at all levels of our local government, there is bloat. While we will be the first to point out there are some hard working people (a few) who work for the city government, there is a lot of fat.

Fact:1 in every 620 homes in the City of New Albany is in Foreclosure.

Fact: The NAFD and NAPD rank Number 5 AS highest paid employees in the State of Indiana.

City of New Albany Employees:

1. Charles L. Miller (police)............$141,440.09
2. Matthew M. Hunter (fire)...........$98,035.42
3. Christopher Rainbolt (fire)..........$96,062.57
4. Scott L. Carpenter (fire)..............$96,062.57
5. Keith Whitlow (police).................$88,312.62
6. Tim W. Kron (fire).......................$88,304.35
7. Dexter A. Parker (fire)...............$82,909.30
8. Richard L. Denny.......................$87,541.41
9. Greg Pennell (police).................$86,973.39
10. Matt E. Julot (fire)..................$86,839.73
11.Maurice A. Stubbins (fire).......$84,791.88
12.Mike Lawrence (police)..........$84,356.95
13. Jerry Banet (fire)...................$84,310.60
14. Albert E. Higdon (police).......$83,750.33
15. Sherry Knight (police)...........$83,564.08
16. Joel Baylor (fire)...................$82,875.26
17. Merle A. Hall (police)...........$81,692.28
18. Brian Gadd (fire)...................$81,039.74
19. David Sparks (fire)...............$80,805.59
20. Jeff Gahan (mayor)..............$83,368.87

Fact: Eighty four cents of every dollar in our ($20 million) General Fund goes to our local fire and police departments. Our question is how do they run the other departments on the sixteen cents left.

Here are three different mayors with three different salaries:
1. James Garner......$50,000 salary
2. Doug England......$75,000 salary
3. Jeff Gahan...........$83,368.87 plus he's also paid to sit on two different board. So his salary is now over $100,000 + a year.

Why? What has happen to Public Service in our City?

Freedom Of Speech would like to say:

What is destroying our city: Salaries, Benefits, Bonds, TIF's, Tax Abatement's, Mismanagement, Greed and the good ole boys mentality.

If GREED was a crime in the City of New Albany we would have to build 10 new jails. And to think, City Attorney Shane Gibson wants to run for Prosecutor. Must be nice living on the backs of us taxpayers drawing a billable hour paycheck and being paid additional $$$ to represent 5 different boards.

It's obvious that our city, like the federal government, has a spending problem, not a revenue problem and what Gahan is doing to the residents of New Albany is mismanagement and borders on malfeasance.

Friday, August 02, 2013

We were NOT surprised at today's disclosure and announcement about the City Controllers job. The sad part, right there in print was another Gahan Twenty Million $$$$ Lie.

Check this out:

Gahan's statement: "I think Linda Moeller is the perfect person for the controller's office," Gahan said "She has had quite a few years of municipal experience dealing with the DLGF (Department of Local Government). I think she will be an excellent fit for New Albany."

Moeller's statement: "It's going to be a new challenge for me, "Moeller said from her office on Thursday," I think it will help me grow professionally, I will be doing things I have NEVER done before and tackling new projects."

Damn Jeff, she was the County Clerk. She knows nothing about City government nor has she ever really dealt with DLGF. Yes, she has worked with the State Board of Accounts and her County Budget, for her own office but that's it..

Our question to Mr. Gahan is this: Why has it taken over a year to publish the 2012 Year End Financial statements - one of the most essential and basic task of any mayor - a clear indication of inept management.

The city is supposed to maintain infrastructure, safety, trash pick up, not "on the job training" for a new controller.. That's not what we pay taxes for.

We need a Controller with a financial background to help this City not a former County Clerk who yearns to stay in the public eye because she is running for Auditor in 2014 and it's our opinion, Moeller isn't qualified for that job either.

Our final thoughts:

Freedom Of Speech would love to know who will train Mrs. Moeller?  Kay Garry or Shane Gibson?

Mrs. Moeller you are in "way over your head", who is dumb enough to take this job after all the playing with the numbers and moving of tax payers money.  Anyone who puts party politics over us taxpayers should NOT be appointed, or in office.

No wonder our city is on the verge of municipal bankruptcy.

God help us all....

Thursday, August 01, 2013

Is it true County Clerk Linda Moeller will be the NEW City Controller?

"God Help Us All!"

When it comes to race - one cannot dismiss the most disquieting and pressing reality facing the black community: Black on black crime.

Now, we know this issue is taboo among many - but the facts are just to blantant and chilling to ignore.

Here are the real facts most won't discuss: According to national law enforcement statistics, over 95% of all blacks murdered in the United States are murdered by other blacks. Most of these murders take place in inner cities such as Detroit and Chicago by young black thugs who enjoy preying on children, the elderly and other highly vulnerable individuals.

We firmly believe that racial politics is the last refuge of cowards. It is the very place where spineless bastards and shameless vermin retreat to when the debate is lost.

This is sung to Taylor Swift's song, "We are never, ever getting back together"

I remember when you first become the Mayor
saying: "I will put an end to Doug England."
Closing off the riverfront and all culture,
Hoping we won't mind. What?!

And then you come around again and say,
"City, I need you so I can pay my maid!
Please....I'll use the extra money for my cruise."
We say, "No way, Jose!"

Shame on youuu!
You destroyed the Parks Department.
If, you think that we'll elect you again,
You...are crazy, crazy, crazy.
In a bad way.

Youuu are
destroying our city.

Please, Jeff Gahan, stop this nonsense,
Make our city home.
'Cause youuuu
Aren't welcome on our ballots....
Next election! (or ever).

Mr. Gahan, why have you ordered Horseshoe Casino signs to be taken down?

* Brandon's House
* Greenway
* Rauch Inc.
* Cancer Care Center

* Business Loans
* New Albany Police Fire Department
* NAFC School System
* NAFC Parks Department
* Howard Steamboat Museum Inc.
* Floyd County VFW
* Floyd County Community Corrections
* Friends of the Culbertson Mansion Inc.
* Animal Shelter
* St. Marks
* Community Park
* Floyd County Head Start
* Division Street School
* Scholarships
* Carnegie Center
* St. John's Lodge

The above list is just a few of the hundreds of grants handed out in Southern Indiana.

Also, "Mr.BULLY," Roger A. Baylor received a $50,000 HFFC Small Business Loan too.

We at Freedom of Speech are confused. Why is Mr. Gahan doing this?  Is it the bylaws that state: that a democrat and a republican must be allowed to sit on the Horseshoe Foundation Board?

Or, is it because the Horseshoe Foundation refused to give him $$$$ for "HIS" Water Park and Sports Complex?

Freedom Of Speech would like to say:

The consequences of what could happen as the casino has the freedom to purchase huge billboards to replace any inconsequential signs Gahan might remove. And they can work with local businesses in the city to have space on their properties to erect signs there.

Our final thoughts:

How petty, juvenile and ungracious you have become, Mr. Gahan.  It is not a forward thinking plan as it would be a smack in the casino's face. and burning bridges that should NOT be burned. This is cutting off your nose to spite your face and if we were you, I'd think twice about doing something so incredibly shallow and stupid.

Considering the history of this current administration, such behavior is really only icing on the cake of a series of ridiculously destructive typical short sighted maneuvers....

Shame on you  Mr. Gahan!

The gifts of the Horseshoe Foundation will continue to shape our community.

It was recently reported: but NOT very publicly, that Rural/Metro Ambulance service missed the interest payment that was due last Monday on a 2013 bond issue.

This follows an industry report from Moody's Investor's Service on May 30 when they downgraded Rural/Metro's credit rating to junk status.

Moody's also increased their probability of default.

Gahan SCREWS up again.....

Barrack H. Obama while giving his race-baiting speech on Friday said: "He was profiled 35 years ago at stores, because4 he was black."

How does he know it wasn't his white half that was being profiled?

Just a reminder: Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson: Two poverty PIMPS who got RICH from perpetuating RACISM.

How long will it take Mayor Gahan to ask Kay Garry to return as Controller for the City of New Albany?

Answer: Secret meeting between Jeff and Kay Garry next Tuesday July 16, 2013,  in the Mayors office....

How about a NEW qualified CPA?

We are deeply sadden to hear about the death of our friend Randy Hubbard.

He was a good man and a GREAT husband, father and grandfather.

We often sat in Randy's office discussing politics, the democrat and the republican party, and what should and could be done to help US taxpayers. In our eyes Randy was a problem solver. He often told us: Floyd County had given him so much he just want to give back to the people.

Former Sheriff Hubbard sure loved his family, he took pride in his grand kids and cared deeply about the city and county residence.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Hubbard family. Floyd County has lost a great public servant....

It was NOT that long ago that character and accountability was NOT the exception but rather the RULE among local leaders. It was understood that our former mayor was to lead the charge of a team effort, and there is NO, and never has been an "I" in local government.

Former New Albany mayor responds after audit show laws broken!

There is NO way for former Mayor Douglas B. England to pull a Robin Hood scenario out of this one:

England wrote an executive order to continue providing health insurance for three months after firefighter Nicholas W. Shavers was terminated by the city in 2011.

Former Mayor Douglas B. England "DID NOT" have the authority to authorize the continuation and payment of $5,200.40 of Nicholas W. Shavers insurance benefits and he knew it.

So how about our readers reading what our local "Tribune Newspaper" refuses to print:

Douglas B. England former Mayor:

Douglas B. England
Michelle England

$1,320.00  (Total Health Benefits Paid for Jan. & Feb. of 2012)

Patricia Linck, former Public Safety Clerk

Patricia Linck
William Linck
$1,320.00  (Total Health Benefits Paid for Jan. & Feb. of 2012)

Kathlyn M. Garry, former Controller/Treasurer: Sewer Board

Kathlyn M. Garry
$660.00 (Total Health Benefits Paid for Jan. & Feb. of 2012)

Guess who came back to work for the City after the 1st Executive Order was rescinded?

The State Board of Accounts is requesting reimbursement 'jointly and severally' from former Mayor Douglas B. England and from each former employee who received these benefits of: $3,300.00.

Net cost of Insurance Benefits Paid by City for Nicholas W. Shavers was: $5,200.40.

Former Mayor, Douglas B. England, DID NOT have the authority to authorize the continuation  and payment of insurance benefits for three months following termination. Payments made by the City for these benefits are considered personal expenses. Both former Mayor England and Nicholas W. Shavers, former Firefighter, to be "jointly and severally responsible for cost incurred" by the City and request reimbursement in the amount of: $5,200.40.

Can you believe former Mayor England states and we quote: "I have not done anything immoral." then how about criminal, Mr. England?

Look at what arrogance got you.

"You, Mr. England, ARE NOT above the State Laws of Indiana."

So pay back our money.

" On this solemn weekend we remember the fallen, and we reflect on all they have given us. Their selfish acts of sacrifice have given freedom another day to live. It is our duty to preserve and promote freedom and liberty, to bring light to the darkest corners of the world, where others hunger for the rights we now hold!"

Hillary Rodham Clinton

It is Memorial Day weekend, that lazy three day weekend that hearlds the approach of summer.

But before you light that grill or pop open a cold one, let's consider...

Freedom of religion is not because of any church. Freedom of the press is not the work of any reporter. Trial by jury of your peers was not won by some attorney. The right to speak your mind and assemble is not to the speech of any politician.

The freedom we enjoy were hard fought and paid for by those willing to say, not on my watch.

As we write this, young men and women stand in harms way just as millions of others did before them.

We don't know about you, but we are not planing on spending our Memorial Day weekend dodging "oncoming rockets" or looking for IED's. We don't sleep on a dirt mattress or use a helmet for a pillow.

To all our men and women who serve, thank you!

We hope each of you have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

God Bless America and all that fought for her.

After reading today's News & Tribune. We decided to put our two cents worth in on the issue: New Albany councilwoman subject of conflict-of-interest review.

After reading the comment by Councilman Dan Coffey: "First off, I hope it's NOT true, what they did put the city in a lot of jeopardy as far as future grants."

What a crock of BS....Dan.

We are NOT big fans of Mrs. Benedetti and don't always agree with her.

But, before Mr. David Duggins or Councilman Dan Coffey attacks someone the News & Tribune needs to print all the facts NOT part of the facts.

This is nothing but "Character Assassination!"

If you have ever attended a council meeting it resembles bad open mic nights. Mr. Coffey is always the expert on every issue. And we all know who's pocked he's in. Councilman Coffey you are just a first class suck up aren't you. You have your head so far up Mayor Gahan behind it's hard to tell where he begins and you end.

Real class like your opinion is meaningful.

Grow up, stop kissing the mayors ass and get a real job!

We have yet to see any documentation with you as sole councilman or title of Deputy Mayor of the City of New Albany.

A final message to Councilman Coffey and Mr. David Duggins: Contact us when you're truly ready to discuss real "Conflict of Interest issues."

Congratulations to Mayor Gahan for rehiring Dennis Smith as our NEW City Code Enforcement Officer. First you fire him, he threatens to sue and then you rehire him.

Sad but true.

Public outcry should be loud and clear.

The thought of having Smith head Code Enforcement sends "chills" down our spines.

Ok Jeffrey, just pretend it never happen....

Maybe you need to inquire what all happen when he tend bar at the Redmans Club on Main Street.

RIP Mr. Teives,  you did one hell of a job for us taxpayers!

Wrong decision: "Coffey favored footing a paving campaign with a $5 million bond."

Smells like a "kick back" to Diaper Dan to us....

Right decision:  "Benedetti told Coffey another legislator can't control what information she receives. "I can ask for the information I want!"

"The whole point of the conversation was, if I ask for something as a legislator, I should be able to get that information."

Great point Mrs. Benedetti.

Question to our readers: Who works for Mayor Gahan?

Answer: Dan Coffey and  Street Department Commissioner Mickey Thompson.

Freedom Of Speech would like to say: Bravo Mrs. Benedetti!

How about next time asking Diaper Dan who made him Deputy Mayor?

Six months after Super-storm Sandy devastated the Jersey shore and New York City and pounded coastal areas of New England.  There are thousands of homeless residents.

Here we are six months after Sandy hit and despite Obama's pledge "to cut through the red tape" there are thousands of families in New York and New Jersey waiting to hear from FEMA.

Our question is this: what does FEMA have to do with your flood or home insurance?

You know what we love, when you buy insurance they tell you that your completely covered then you find out they lied!

Sound familiar?

And remember folks, the Senate passed the 80 Billion dollar relief for these folks.

Where's the $$$$?

This should NOT be happening in the United States of America....

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by the explosions in Boston on Monday. What happened was a true disaster and tragedy. We will continue to pray for healing, recovery, and wisdom in the next few days and weeks - and we ask you to join us.

To the many first responders who ran toward danger without a thought for their own safety, to bystanders and neighbors who dropped everything to help, tearing off clothing to make tourniquets, and to the exhausted marathoners who just kept running straight to the hospital to donate blood in the immediate aftermath of the Boston bombings, you remind us how we are PROUD to be an American.

Did anyone notice (one term-er) Mayor Gahan was missing from the State House photo?

Since the Tribune won't print the whole story. We will do it for them...

Ed Clere offered a resolution on the floor of the Indiana House of Representatives "House  Concurrent Resolution 40." This Resolution honored New Albany's Bicentennial celebrations, and made special note of our city's deep and rich history. Several people from New Albany were in attendance, including people from the Bicentennial Committee.

A little birdie (snitch) on the third floor heard our illustrious mayor SCREAM at someone (We don't think it was Ed Clere) that if he (Mayor Gahan) didn't get a copy of that Resolution sent to him immediately, he would NOT GO to the reading on the House floor. He yelled and yelled we were told.

Apparently, to cover his ass with the Bicentennial Committee and several Citizens of New Albany Mayor Gahan has said and we quote: "that he was only told about the Resolution just before it was to be given", but the little birdie knows that is an outright "LIE" because of Jeff's yelling into the phone just a couple of weeks ago.

Is this what we're paying $85,000+ salary a year for, Mr. & Mrs. taxpayers?

This is one phony LIAR we have running OUR City.

(Sorry about that, we just couldn't hold back the truth on one - term-er Gahan.)

Representative Clere hosted our New Albany contingent very nicely at the Stateho8use and it was reported they all had a wonderful visit there. Also, the people in the House of Representatives seemed to enjoy the group as well as the information they gave when the Resolution was presented.

The group went over to the Senate Chamber so Senator Grooms could also present the Resolution and acknowledge them.

Everyone who went had a great day!

At neither Resolution reading was Gahan present. He apparently DID boycott the Resolution because he meant what he SCREAMED into the phone. He "would not show up unless" he "could approve the wording of the Resolution."

First of all, Freedom of Speech would like to Thank State Rep. Clere for being a professional and doing his job unlike Mayor Gahan.

Mayor Gahan you need to put your big boy pants on and admit you lied.

It's our job: To Expose and Set the Record Straight!

Jerusalem Obituaries 33 AD

Calvary-Jesus Christ 33, on Nazareth, died Friday on Mount Calvary, also known as Golgotha, the place of the skull betrayed by the apostle Judas.

Jesus was crucified by the Romans, by order of the Ruler Pontius Pilate.

The cause of death were crucifixion, extreme exhaustion, severe torture, and loss of blood.

Jesus Christ, a descendant of Abraham was a member of the House of David. He was the son of the late Joseph, a carpenter of Nazareth and Mary, his devoted mother. Jesus was born in a stable in the City of Bethlehem, Judea. He is survived by his mother, Mary, his faithful Apostles, numerous disciples, and many other followers.

Jesus was self educated and spent most of his adult life working as a Teacher. Jesus also occasionally worked as a Medical Doctor and it is reported that he healed many patients. Up until the time of his death, Jesus was teaching and sharing the Good News, healing the sick, touching the lonely, feeding the hungry and helping the poor.

Jesus was most noted for telling parables about His Father's Kingdom and performing miracles, such as feeding over 5,000 people with only five loafs of bread and two fish and healing a man who was born blind. On the day before his death, he held a last supper celebrating the Passover Feast, at which he foretold his death.
The body was quickly buried in a stone grave, which was donated by Joseph of Arimathea, a Loyal Friend of the family. By order of Pontius Pilate, a boulder was rolled in front of the tomb. Roman soldiers were put on guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that everyone try to live as Jesus did.
Donations may be sent to anyone in need.

Freedom Of Speech is wishing you a Happy and Blessed Easter! May we all remember the sacrifice of Jesus that was so freely given so that we may find the true meaning of Easter...

Is it true the City of New Albany purchased Gary Brinkworth's family property for $130,000?

Isn't this a Conflict of Interest by the Gahan Administration?

Our understanding the City Board of Works APPROVED the purchase of the Brinkworth property on Tuesday for $130,000.

Doesn't Mr. Brinkworth serve on the Sewer and Stormwater Board?

We're beginning to wonder if Doug England is back in office. This only sounds like something Dougie would pull....

Another question:

If the reasoning behind this $7 - $9 million Water Park is for the lower income children of New Albany, how can their family's afford a $10.00 per child entrance fee or a $200 yearly membership fee?

More of Gahan's Lies and Bull-Shit...

The purpose of the  Second Amendment is to arm people in order to prevent future tyranny. They need the tools to do this.

The term "Well Regulated" in the Second Amendment meant "Well Manned and Equipped" in 1791 as was determined in 1939 United States v. Miller case after referencing the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. The concept of Government Regulation, as we understand it today, did not exist at the time.

United States v. Miller also determined that the term "Arms" refers to "Ordinary Military Weapons" (not crew operated). American Citizens have the right to Keep and Bear, which means Own and Carry, any weapon that is legal.

The 2008 Heller v. Washington DC decision reaffirmed that the right to Bear Arms was an individual right. The 2010 McDonald v. Chicago decision reaffirmed it yet again and made it clean that it applies to every state, every city and every town in the United States.

To limit the Second Amendment would be equivalent of limiting the First Amendment to writings in quill pens.

Liberty is worth the risk of death.

We will continue to cling to our "Bibles, guns and OUR Faith in GOD not government."

City of New Albany HAS won court case against the County for the Two-mile fringe area.

What will the New Albany Little League do now?

Friday, March 08, 2013

Basic Theory of TIF:

1. Freeze property assessments at pre-development level in a designated area (an allocation area").

2. Issue municipal bonds to finance portions of redevelopment.

3. As property value (and assessments) in areas increase, use increment in tax revenues to meet debt service on issued bonds.

4. All public bodies benefiting from redevelopment share the costs of public improvements associated with the redevelopment. When the redevelopment cost have been paid, the tax allocation is discontinued and all public bodies enjoy the benefits of increased property tax value.

You would think as long as Councilman Coffey, McLaughlin, Caesar and Gonder have been SITTING on the council they would understand TIFS.

So, let's do some homework and see what we come up with:

First, Tax Increment Financing (TIF) is an area with designated boundaries (like circles) drawn on a city map and labeled as a TIF area. The taxes in the TIF area are FROZEN at the time the TIF area is approved.

All those new taxes on the "new development go into an account for that TIF area ONLY" for use in the TIF area for improvements such as roads and sewers.

NOT salaries!

Mayor Gahan says: we have plenty of TIF Fund Revenue to make bond payments on a $19.7 million dollar bond. What Mayor Gahan forget to tell the council members that we have $23,000,000 + additional bonds to be paid off by 2038.

Do you know and wonder why we don't have revenue?

TIF Districts...............AMOUNT Projected

Grantline Road ...........$703,004
Charlestown Road .....$844,689
Park East ....................$1,121,596
State Street ................$618,279
State Street Garage...$197,231
Old Monon Corridor..$342,883
Loop Island ................$11,000
Total Projected Taxes...$3,838,482

Source:Exhibit A

The above $3,838,482 Taxes stays in the above TIF areas and DOES NOT go into the General Fund.

Freedom Of Speech repeats: when the TIF Bond costs are paid off, the TIF area is discontinued (rescinded) so that the tax money can help the General Fund!

Why can't Gahan and Coffey look the citizens in the eye, tell them TIF'S affect property taxes and our General Fund.

footnote: "At this time the Downtown TIF has NOT repaid the $3,613,698 back to the EDIT Fund." We now understand why our city is on the verge of bankruptcy.

Councilman Coffey, did Freedom Of Speech answer your questions? Isn't this why you six council members are backing this $19.7 million BOND up with out Property Taxes?

See what happens Danny boy, when you know how to read TIF Spread Sheets!

Boys and girls at a Massachusetts elementary school have been banned from bringing Valentine's Day candy or cards over cultural equality issues and federal guidelines regulating candy.

David DeRuosi, superintendent defended the principal's decision - explaining that with new residents and new mandates "certain traditions we have to modify and adapt." No candy, no cards, no cupcakes, the superintendent said.

Freedom Of Speech would like to say:

It's disgusting that all this political correctness is basically not allowing children to be children. To be an American child today is to be bound and gagged by the culture of the immigrant. American traditions, the very things that drew these people to our country, are cast aside in order to not to offend. If being American is so offensive to the immigrant, let the immigrant go back to where they came from.

If they don't speak English, maybe they should! After all they are in the United States of America. When we travel to foreign countries, we don't expect them to change their language just for us.

Adults need to stay out of child's play.

We believe in the Second Amendment for two main reasons. Those reasons are probably VERY similar to many of yours reading this. One, we believe in the United States Constitution and the Second Amendment allows us to bear arms and to protect our family's from a tyrannical government.

Yep. That's one.

Two, we believe in protecting our family's from criminals. And despite what liberals would like you to believe crime and evil  will exist in this world no matter what. They will CONTINUE to exist - and be armed - even if and when the bleeding heart liberals decide to try to implement legislation that tries to somehow cancel out that thing called reality.

Regarding Obama's use of children to announce his Executive Order Gun Registration:

This is a pathetic exploitation of children as a human shield to generate an emotional response to promote his COMMUNIST agenda. This act demonstrates a level of desperation passed by any former President.

Obama resorts to grasping at human emotions because the FACTS do not support his unconstitutional, anti-gun agenda.

Obama says he will protect our children from guns but he does nothing to protect their future. From the economics our unsustainable national debt will cause them....
